Reed Wood, CPA has over 45 years of experience in auditing, accounting and management consulting. He began his professional career with Arthur Andersen upon his graduation from the University of Texas in 1970 with BBA and MBA degrees. After completing 32 years as an audit partner with Andersen, he joined Grant Thornton as head of their Energy Practice for 8 years.
Reed led client service teams responsible for annual financial statement audits, quarterly services, agreed upon procedure assignments, registration and other public entity filings and compilation of unaudited financial information. He has concentrated his services heavily to the oil and gas industry including all 3 streams and oil field services. Reed consulted closely with the audit committee and Board of Directors regarding financial, audit and other corporate governance matters including FCPA. He coordinated engagement management and products with executive management and lead family representation for multi-branch family interests. He has also worked with construction, private trusts, family offices, continuing care residential centers and other businesses in both private and public sectors. Since large firm retirement in 2010, he served as a consultant to another Houston CPA firm and other businesses. He joined Fitts Roberts Kolkhorst in August 2015 and became the Firm’s Consulting Director. He is a member of the AICPA, Texas Society of CPAs and he is also a long time member of the Houston CPA Society. He served as President of the Houston CPA Society and four terms on the Executive Committee of the TSCPA. He has also led the American Heart Association, Boys & Girls Country, Theatre under the Stars and the HLS&R Steer Auction. Reed is married to Janet and they have four children and ten grandchildren.
